The Asthmatix are a 3 piece band based in Sydney, Australia with influences spanning a wide and eclectic range of artists including the revolutionary scratch artistry of Q-Bert, the diverse and independent conceptual output of jazz saxophonist John Zorn, the sample-based sonic mayhem of DJ Shadow and The Avalanches, the fat grooves of Flying Lotus, Mobb Deep and J Dilla, and the musical anarchy of the Beastie Boys. The members of the band have collectively recorded and toured with a diverse range of renowned artists including Dereb The Ambassador, Oyobi, Lulo Reinhardt, Monsieur Camembert, Karsten Troyke and Mocky amongst many others. However what sets the band apart from these myriad projects is the possibility to explore another musical realm in which all and any kinds of sounds are possible. The band released their first EP “Go Team Go” in 2011 to widespread critical acclaim, which included the 7” vinyl “Latke”, and on April 16, 2025 released their long awaited full length album “Abacus Earthling” produced in both Europe and Australia to a packed house at Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville, Sydney. The skies are the limit for this unique band with their unique take on music in which all and any direction of sonic exploration is possible
